Top recipe for a frothy latte coffee that you can make at home without any fancy percolator or whatnot. Unless you count one of those cheapy electric coffee whisks as fancy.
You will need;
A microwave
A Cheapy electric coffee whisk
Ingredients (for one mug);
1 tsp coffee granules (any will do)
1tsp sugar (optional)
1 part water
2 parts milk
Step 1
Boil the kettle
Step 2
Place in the mug which you will be drinking out of the sugar and coffee granules an sugar and a splash of milk. With a teaspoon mix until you have a dark brown paste.
Step 3
In another mug pour in the rest of the milk and microwave on full power for 1 minute 20 seconds (roughly).
Step 4
When the kettle boils fill the mug which you will be drinking out of 1/3 full. Stir.
Step 5
When the microwave got ping take out the milks and whisk using the electric whisk for about a minute or so making sure that you slowly lift the whisk out of the mug, whilst on, to create a foam on top of the milk. Then pour the milk slowly into the other mug. Stir again and serve.

I just saw one of those electric coffee whisks in a store the other day and wondered if they really work--seems they do. I'll be getting one for cappuccino at home then :)
I cannot tell you how excited I am to have found this recipe! Some days I just crave a latte. Starbucks is too pricy for me, and I knew there had to be something I could do at home without special equipment. Last night I bought instant coffee, thinking there had to be a way to use that and milk and the microwave. I experimented and got an awful cup of latte. However, your recipe was just the ticket. The only thing I don't have is the electric coffee whisk, but I found that twirling the handle of a wire whisk between my hands made a foamy enough mixture for me. Thanks so much!
This is exactly what I've been looking for. Thank you for this!
Ok, I've gone through an entire package of soy milk making these today. Still cheaper than going to Starbucks (which I don't have in my town anyway)! Thanks!
This is AMAZING!! I don't understand how when I simply add 1/3 water and 2/3 hot milk to a mug of coffee granules it tastes mediocre. But this recipe makes it taste absolutely beautiful.
As someone else said, I don't have an electric coffee whisk but I can just spin one of my big whisk blades between my hands and still get a decent amount of foam. Thank you!
